Before Your Visit

New Client Information

Everything you need to know to prepare for your first appointment — what to bring, what to expect, how to get here, and the policies that govern our work together.

What to Bring

Health Intake Form

Please print, fill out, and bring the completed Health Intake Form with you. You can download the Health Intake Form here. Bringing a completed form saves time so more of your appointment can go toward hands-on work.

Payment

Payment is due at the time of service. The credit card entered online to hold your appointment will not be charged for the session itself. Accepted forms of payment:

  • Cash
  • Credit Card (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover)
  • Apple Pay or Google Pay
  • HSA or FSA card

Mark does not provide direct billing to insurance companies, but upon request he does provide paperwork for you to submit to your insurance company for direct reimbursement. See the Rates & Policies page for current session rates.

What to Wear — Structural Integration

If you are coming for a Structural Integration session, please bring underwear you will be comfortable working in. For women, bras are optional — regular bras work best; if using a sports bra, one with fewer straps is easier to work with.

During the session you will be lying or sitting on the table, and possibly standing or moving. A top sheet for draping is not used, and the work is done with you in your underwear. This allows for:

  • Constant visual assessment of structure and tissue throughout the session
  • Better access to work on larger segments of the body at once, increasing efficiency
  • The ability to have you move a body part while Mark is working in the tissue
  • More sensitive work, since working on skin allows for greater tactile feedback

What to Wear — Craniosacral Therapy

If you are coming for a Craniosacral Therapy session, please wear loose, soft clothing. You will remain fully clothed throughout the session, lying on the table. Mark works through the fabric, so softer clothing makes it easier for him to feel through it.

What to Expect for Your First Appointment

How a session begins

Each session starts with a check-in about your body and your experience of it. For Structural Integration clients, a visual assessment of your posture and movement follows — this informs Mark about how and where your body is stuck, condensed, or restricted. For Craniosacral Therapy clients, a visual postural assessment is not typically needed.

Hands-on work and follow-up

For both Structural Integration and Craniosacral Therapy clients, the initial observations are followed by hands-on assessment of the tissue, which leads directly into the hands-on work itself.

After the hands-on work, there is time for discussion about what was observed in the tissue and body during the session. Mark typically provides some suggestions for self-care to keep your progress moving forward between appointments.

Validated Parking

One hour of free parking

Visitors to the University Business Center are eligible for one hour of free parking in the lot adjacent to the building on the north side. There is an open lot and a parking garage, both entered from 47th Street (at the corner of 9th Ave NE and 47th).

To register for the free hour, go to the pay station next to stall #73 and follow these steps:

  1. Press any button to turn on the machine
  2. Enter your license plate number
  3. Press "OK"
  4. Select option 5) Biz Ctr – 1 hour free
  5. Enter validation number: 4500
  6. Remove the receipt from the machine and place it on your dash

Parking for those with a disability

For those with a Washington State Disabled Parking Privilege plate or placard, parking is available in the lot directly across the street on 9th Ave NE, in any of the handicapped stalls. Parking is free with a plate or placard displayed.
